Scout Group Trustee

Ashton Central Scout Group

Ashton Central Scout Group is looking for enthusiastic and community-minded volunteers to join our Trustee Board and help support the running and future development of our Scout Group.

Trustees play an important behind-the-scenes role, helping to ensure the group is well managed, financially secure, and able to provide great opportunities for young people.

What does a Trustee do?

As a Trustee, you’ll work as part of a small team that supports the leadership team by:

Helping oversee the governance and direction of the Scout Group

Ensuring the group is run safely, legally, and in line with Scout policies

Supporting financial oversight and budgeting

Helping maintain and develop our facilities and equipment

Contributing ideas to help the group grow and thrive in the community

Attending occasional Trustee meetings (typically a few times per year)

Who are we looking for?

You don’t need previous Scouting experience. We welcome people from all backgrounds, particularly those with skills or experience in:

Finance or bookkeeping

Property or maintenance

Governance or committee work

Fundraising

Community engagement

General organisation and planning

Most importantly, we’re looking for people who want to support local young people and help our Scout Group succeed.

What’s involved?

Flexible volunteer commitment

A few meetings each year

Opportunity to use your skills to support a local charity

Training and support provided

Why volunteer?

By becoming a Trustee, you’ll help provide life-changing experiences for young people in our community while gaining valuable experience working with a local charity.

All Trustees will be required to undertake a DBS check in line with Scout safeguarding policies.
