Reading volunteer in a primary school

Are you over 18, have some time to spare, a good grasp of written English, and enjoy spending time with children? If so, you could become a Schoolreader volunteer. Our volunteers go into a primary school once a week during termtime (holidays can be taken in this time, you just need to let the school know in advance) and listen to children read on a one to one basis. You could be working with the same group of children each week or a whole year group across the term.

We have schools all over Preston (PR1, PR2 &PR4 postcodes) that are waiting for volunteers.

What skills do I need?

We do not ask for any particular qualifications, but Schoolreaders volunteers need to enjoy spending time with children, have a good grasp of written and spoken English and be able to commit to attend school weekly during term time for a minimum of 1 year.

When do I need to be available?

Morning Afternoon Evening

1-2 hours per week within the school day
