Darwen Community Helpers
Darwen Community Helpers run a charity shop on Bridge Street in Darwen that further supports the activities of the Group.
We are wanting to recruit volunteers to help us operate our shop that funds the many activities that Darwen Community Helpers run, one being our Food Distribution. We would hope that the volunteers would be able to commit to a minimum of four hours a week to help us out so others can help facilitate the groups that use the building. Volunteers will be given the opportunity to also help with these groups with some scope in encouraging them to perhaps start and run their own (under the auspices of Darwen Community Helpers).
Initial duties would include helping to run the shop whose elements include stock handling and rotation, window display, customer service and money handling. Further duties may be included should the volunteers wish to expand on their roles and responsibilities. This can be discussed either through initial introduction or throughout the volunteer’s journey.
Previous experience would be beneficial but please don’t let that put people off as any training needed would be provided.
Volunteer expenses will be refunded – our volunteers are never left out of pocket.
The shop is open Monday to Friday and we are flexible as to when a volunteer can come in and help us.
The position (depending on duties) may be subject to a DBS check but this would be our responsibility to apply for one.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Good customer skills, happy disposition, interest in helping the community
